Papyrology
Leiden University owns an extensive collection of papyri. The Papyrological Institute is proprietor of most of this collection. A smaller amount of Papyri is part of the ULL collection. Apart from original papyri the Papyrological Institute offers an extensive collection of handbooks and secondary studies on papyri.
The Papyrological institute is located within the University Library and can be reached through entrance 6 on the first floor. The institute’s library is the most complete one in the Netherlands and internationally renowned for its collection. The Papyri in Arabic are part of the university library’s collection and can be consulted through the Special Collections desk on the second floor.
The Papyrological Institute maintains a webpage with links referring to digitally available information on papyrology concerning Greek and Demotic papyri (in Dutch only).
For Arabic papyri the Arabic Papyrology Database is the most important digital starting point.
