Library hours during the holidays
On 25 and 26 December and on 1 January, all Leiden University Libraries (UBL) locations will be closed. On 24 December, most locations will be closing earlier than usual. The Law Library, Social Sciences Library, Walaeus Library, Wijnhaven Library and the Science Library will remain closed up to and including 1 January.
Open from 27 - 31 December
- The University Library (UB)
- The Special Collections Reading Room
- The African Library and the Middle Eastern Library reading room areas. The Herta Mohr library desk will be closed

Exam period: 2 December - 26 January
In the busy exam weeks, nearly all library study places need to be booked in advance. Only Leiden University students can book study places. For some visitor groups, access restrictions apply.
Borrowing and consulting
On 27, 30 and 31 December, books requested within the University Library will be made available according to the regular delivery schedule. Requests to/from other library locations made from 23 December 16:00 onwards will be delivered on or after 3 January.
ILL services
During the holidays, most Dutch university libraries will be closed. ILL requests made during this period will generally be processed and made available after 6 January 2025.
