Construction of Middle Eastern Library in Final Phase

7 March 2024

The floors are being leveled, carpets are being laid, lights are being connected, and the finishing touches are being applied to the smart climate control systems. The construction of the Middle Eastern Library, located in the Herta Mohr building which has been under construction for two years alongside the University Library, is now truly in its final stages.

This month, the construction of the building will be completed, and work can begin on its furnishing, including the new Middle Eastern Library. This also involves the relocation of the thousands of books that will be accessible in the library. The photos below give an impression of the space where students and researchers will be able to come and study in a few months.

The new Middle Eastern Library of the Leiden University Libraries will open after the summer.
